The Mag Phenomenon
by NJ
Fellows would you sport a man bag? Ladies would you buy your man a handbag? The man bag phenomenon is among us and there is no way to deny it Today’s men are subscribing to the old theory that if you can’t beat em' . . . join em. Just look man bags are everywhere you go from the streets of NYC to the strolls of L.A no matter where you are it is not uncommon to come across someone carrying a man bag. These short handled, large sized masculine colored bags seem to have made their place in mainstream fashion. From couture to urban wear, with bags varying from Louis Vuitton to Puma you will spot big names such as Kanye West, Terrance Howard and Andre 3000 being photographed sporting them and looking very nice with them if I may add, but with every fashion trend, you always have your problem children who want to take the trend too dam far. Okay we know Pharrell has always been known for his unconventional style and questionable taste, but his purple Hermes Toat made of crocodile at a cost of $67,000 is taking the fashion statement way over the top. This bag goes above and beyond the typical man bag and you see most gay men carrying around. The mega producer is said to also have the same bag in tan. I know it’s his business but I do not want to see little boys around the world asking for a “boy bag” like Pharrells this christmas “feel me.” Whether a man is gay, straight or a mega metrosexual the man bags are the latest, hottest trend in metro fashion today. And why shouldn't it, men have just as much crap to carry around as women. I can remember all the times my man would ask me to put stuff in bag even though it was already stuffed to the limit. Well Karma taste so sweet. Because now I love asking my dude to carry stuff in his man bag, when I don’t feel like lugging my purse. Most times I just do it for the hell of it!
I'm against the whole man-bag thing. What's wrong with a brief case or hello....a wallet. If you have that many essentials that you need a "purse" because that's what it is....uh maybe he needs to spend more time getting ready at home. Over the shoulder bag, fine.....a clutch, well you be the judge. Next thing you know their women will be asking to borrow their "purse". I'm just wondering how many "straight" men carry purses. It is what it is. We need to get a poll going.
